FOX 22 interviews Kamath on H5N1 virus

WFVX (FOX 22/ABC 7 in Bangor) interviewed Pauline Kamath, associate professor of animal disease/diagnostics at the University of Maine School of Food and Agriculture, on the H5N1 virus, known as the bird flu, and how people can protect themselves and their pets from it. Kamath said the bird flu is a respiratory illness that circulates in wild bird populations, such as duck and geese. She added that it was first detected in 2022 and has since spread to all 50 states, with a new presence in dairy cows that is linked to human exposure to the virus.
