Bangor media highlight UMaine student volunteer work at election polls
WABI (CBS 5 in Bangor) and News Center Maine highlighted University of Maine students who volunteered to work at the polls during the general election on Nov. 5. Approximately 50 students with UMaine UVote helped register voters and cast their ballots at the Collins Center for the Arts, where the Orono town election was held. Mak Thompson, student ambassador for UVote, emphasized the importance for people to vote in local elections as well as the presidential election. Colleen Frazier, assistant director for student organizations and leadership development at UMaine, said volunteering at the polls is a great way for students to learn leadership skills.
