Brewer interviewed by ABC News, Press Herald on election politics
ABC News and News Center Maine interviewed Mark Brewer, professor and chair of the University of Maine’s Department of Political Sciences, on the election race for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Republican candidate will face a three-term incumbent Democrat in November. Brewer said gun control is a major factor on voters’ minds and this race is shaping to be one of the top 10 or five House races in the country. The candidates share favorable views of protectionist trade policy, which Brewer said may be shaped by the sentiment that free trade has been a bad deal for rural Americans.
