Office of Diversity and Inclusion celebrating Pride Week through March 30

The University of Maine Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is celebrating Pride Week through March 30. 

On Monday, March 25, ODI kicked off the celebration at 10 a.m. by raising the pride flag in the Memorial Union atrium with two additional events scheduled in the afternoon and evening, including a Pride Climb at Maine Bound Adventure Center from 6-8 p.m.

Tuesday, ODI will host a lunch talk on Q+ sex education from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the union, and Wednesday, it will feature a Q+ community dinner at the UMaine Career Center from 5-8 p.m. as an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to create new connections during a free meal. Reservations are encouraged. 

Three events are planned for both Thursday and Friday. From 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday is an event titled “Transforming self for racial equity” that will be held in the Bumps Room, 229, of the union. Another talk on privilege and Christianity will be held at noon in the union, room 312, and in the evening is a Cozy Night from 7-9 p.m. also in room 312 of the union. The trans flag will be raised at 10 a.m. Thursday in the union atrium, followed by evening events at 6:30 and 8 p.m. The first will be on the steps of Fogler Library for a Trans Day Visibility Vigil and second at the New Balance Recreation Center for a Pride Swim. 

The last day of Pride Week, ODI will host the UMaine Wilde Stein’s Drag Show at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Collins Center for the Arts.
