Media highlight bio-based home 3D-printed by UMaine’s ASCC

NewEngland.com highlighted the University of Maine Advanced Structures & Composite Center’s (ASCC) bio-based and 3D-printed home in a feature article overviewing the home itself, the people behind its creation and ASCC’s plans to build more in a partnership with Penquis, a community-centered organization. Congress approved $40 million to invest in UMaine for infrastructure and innovation to strengthen student opportunity and the state’s economy and local communities, $4 million of which will be allocated for research and development of the bio-based homes. An article from Business Insider noted how UMaine is “scaling up” manufacturing space to increase production of bio-based homes.
