Lawrence named UMaine vice president for human resources
After nearly two decades of working for the University of Maine Office of Human Resources, Nicole Lawrence of Old Town, Maine is now leading it. She has been named vice president for human resources, effective immediately.
Lawrence has served as interim vice president for human resources since June 2022. In her role, she provides leadership and strategic human resources counsel to her staff and UMaine administration. She also oversees human resources functions at the University of Maine at Machias.
“Nicole’s decades-long commitment to our workplace quality and employee support is inspiring. Her expertise is vital for recruiting and retaining world-class faculty and staff,” said UMaine and UMaine Machias President Joan Ferrini-Mundy. “It’s a pleasure having her as part of my cabinet, and I look forward to working together for years to come.”
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in sociology from UMaine in 2002, Lawrence began her career at her alma mater in 2003, joining the Office of Human Resources in 2007. She also serves on the Governing Board for Partners for Peace.
