Graduate student writes op-ed on homeless shelters for Press Herald

Cynthia Cushing, a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in social work from the University of Maine, wrote an op-ed for the Portland Press Herald arguing the importance of the state allowing emergency shelters in cities with populations greater than 20,000. Cushing also is a community case management team leader with Summit Support Services, is vice president for National Association of Social Workers in Maine and has worked as a case manager for adults with disabilities for 14 years.
