Retired military leader appointed UMaine president’s interim chief of staff

Joseph DiSalvo, a retired lieutenant general of the U.S. Army with over 30 years of leadership experience, has been appointed interim chief of staff for University of Maine President Joan Ferrini-Mundy, effective Jan. 30. 

DiSalvo is a resident of Jacksonville, Florida and currently serves as an active member on the Board of Advisors for TCOM L.P. and Advanced Technology International. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Jacksonville Electric Authority. 

Before retiring from the military, DiSalvo served as the deputy commanding general of United States Southern Command. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science in Operations Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
