UMaine Phi Kappa Phi chapter receives national honor
The University of Maine chapter of Phi Kappa Phi honor society has achieved Circle of Excellence Gold status, a national recognition for work in promoting excellence and engaging its community of scholars.
This year, Phi Kappa Phi recognized 74 of its 325 chapters for outstanding performance — “a true testament of the dedication of … faculty and staff who serve as volunteer chapter officers and for their work to recognize and honor excellence on your campus.” The lists of this year’s Circle of Excellence Chapter Award recipients are online.
UMaine’s chapter president is Shaleen Jain, professor and chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The two student vice presidents are Frankie St. Amand and Julia van Steenberge. Daniel Sandweiss, professor of anthropology and climate change, is president of national Phi Kappa Phi.
