Media report on grants to Graduate & Professional Center

Maine PublicNews Center MaineCentralmaine.comMainebiz, the Sun Journal, The Ellsworth American and the Portland Press Herald reported that the University of Maine Graduate & Professional Center received a private donation of $1 million to support interdisciplinary and market-driven graduate and professional education, and has partnered with the University of Maine System in support of a $1 million U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant to enhance distance learning and access to telemedicine in 11 Maine counties. The USDA funds will be applied to meet the $7.5 million matching requirements of a challenge grant from the Harold Alfond Foundation in support of the Maine Center. In a WABI (Channel 5) report, UMS Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation and President of the University of Maine Joan Ferrini-Mundy noted that the Maine Center will bring together law, public policy and business to solve the state’s complex problems.
