Media promote April 6 diversity in children’s literature panel

The Bangor Daily News, the Sun Journal, the Penobscot Bay Pilot, The Irregular and Centralmaine.com advanced an online panel discussion hosted by the University of Maine Raymond H. Fogler Library at 4 p.m. April 6. The free, public event, “Mirrors, Windows & Sliding Doors: A Panel Discussion on Diversity in Children’s Literature,” will address how a lack of diversity in books affects children as panelists discuss the importance of children seeing themselves and seeing people different than themselves in books to engage them with different life experiences.
