News Center Maine quoted University of Maine student Kiera Luu in a report on AmeriCorps Bangor members hosting WindowDressers to build low-cost insulating window inserts to help people save fuel and stay warm. The inserts can reduce someone’s heating bill by as much as a third, the report states. This year in the greater Bangor area, volunteers built 225 window inserts for 25 homes. “You don’t have to run your heat as often and they really do work very well,” said Luu.
