Zooarchaeologist to speak about fisheries, climate change April 29

Elizabeth Reitz, a zooarchaeologist at the University of Georgia and member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, will present “A history of fishing along the western Atlantic coast (USA), 2760 BCE–CE 1978: overfishing or climate change?” at 2:30 p.m. April 29 in the Bodwell Lounge on the third level of the Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine.

Reitz studies faunal remains related to earlier economies and environments, and is well known for her ecological and interdisciplinary work. Her research focuses on data from sites within the portion of the western Atlantic known as the Georgia Bight.

The lecture is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by the Hudson Museum, Department of Anthropology, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School.
