Award-winning filmmaker to show, discuss ‘Intelligent Lives’ documentary

Award-winning filmmaker Dan Habib will be on campus April 4 for a free public screening of his documentary “Intelligent Lives,” detailing the stories of three young American adults with intellectual disabilities.

The screening at 4 p.m. in Soderberg Auditorium, Jenness Hall is sponsored by the University of Maine Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies, one of the documentary’s major supporters.

Actor Chris Cooper narrates the film about the lives of the three adults — Micah, Naieer and Naomie — who challenge perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college and careers.

Habib, a filmmaker at the University of New Hampshire Institute on Disability, will introduce the documentary and lead a post-film discussion: “Intelligent Lives — Opening Doors to Inclusive Policies.”
