Maine NEW Leadership accepting applications for 2019 institute

Maine NEW (National Education for Women) Leadership, now in its 11th year, is accepting applications for undergraduate women to participate in a six-day residential, nonpartisan training program that focuses on civic and political leadership.

Maine NEW Leadership provides students a unique opportunity to build confidence and leadership skills through experiential training and provides a teaching environment in which to practice those skills. The program was created to address the underrepresentation of women at the tables of power. We welcome applicants from all disciplinary backgrounds, at any stage of their undergraduate career, from first year to recently graduated senior.

The 2019 institute will be May 30 through June 4 at Schoodic Institute in Winter Harbor. In addition to participating in the free program, students have the option of paying for a three-credit course, Women and Leadership, offered exclusively to Maine NEW Leadership participants. The course is designed to complement the institute’s curriculum, providing students the opportunity to reflect more deeply on their own leadership goals and on the scholarly research on women’s leadership.
