Ellsworth American reports on Sullivan painter’s UMaine Museum of Art exhibit

The Ellsworth American published an article about Sullivan artist Philip Frey’s current exhibit at the University of Maine Museum of Art in downtown Bangor. “Parallels” features a variety of portraits, cityscapes and abstract compositions that display the painter’s expert use of a rich color palette, deft brushstrokes and strong drawing skills, according to the article. “By design, the explorations in one series influence the other and vice versa,” Frey said in his artist’s statement. The show runs through Dec. 31. UMMA is located at 40 Harlow St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays; admission is free.
