Former English professor Marie Urbanski Whittaker passes away
Marie Olesen Urbanski Whittaker, a former University of Maine professor, feminist and liberal activist, passed away Oct. 24. She was 94. Whittaker was an English professor at UMaine for more than 20 years where her scholarship focused on the contributions of Margaret Fuller, a 19th century feminist and visionary, according to Whittaker’s obituary. Glamour.com recently published a blog post written by her daughter titled, “The last thing my mother did was vote for Hillary Clinton.”
