WABI covers therapy dog visit to Fogler Library during Finals Week
WABI (Channel 5) reported on the latest visit by certified therapy dogs to the University of Maine’s Fogler Library. The dogs were on hand to offer stress relief and comfort to students, staff and faculty members during Finals Week. The program started several years ago and was an immediate hit, according to the report. “You can’t help but be happy around a dog,” said Thomas Dolloff, a senior psychology major at UMaine. “And it’s really important to keep a positive attitude when you have important things going on that stress you out.” In addition to during finals, the dogs also visit in the fall to help with homesickness, the report states.
