Website Notes Tidal, Wind Power Initiatives
In a story about the growth of cleantech initiatives in Maine, the website Mass High Tech noted that UMaine is on the cutting edge of offshore wind power thanks to the efforts of UMaine’s AEWC Advanced Structures and Composites Center, which is testing composite blades for offshore wind turbines. The story mentioned the testing UMaine engineers did last spring in the Netherlands and the plans to put up a test turbine off Monhegan Island next year. The story also noted that Maine is ahead of the curve in tidal power, an area in which several UMaine engineers and scientists are also involved.
