Several media outlets covered the disappearance from the campus of a flag in honor of Pride Week, a celebration of the gay, lesbian, and transgendered community. The flag was raised Monday, but on Tuesday it was noticed the flag was gone. UMaine Senior Associate Dean of Students Kenda Scheele told WABI Pride Week is a way for UMaine to show support for the community. The blog LezGetReal.com, which provides commentary on issues affecting the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community also mentioned the incident on its website.
