Several news organizations covered Monday’s announcement that UMaine and Orono native Steve Abbott agreed on a contract to keep Abbott, who was serving as the interim athletic director, in the position for two more years. The Portland Press Herald and Bangor television station WABI both had stories about the hiring, while a Bangor Daily News column called Abbott’s hiring a positive step.
