Mainebiz Notes Composite Center Patent
Mainebiz has a report about a patent awarded to UMaine’s AEWC Advanced Structures and Composites Center. The center has invented a method to strengthen glulam wood beams, something researchers have been studying for five years. The center’s method involves the application of a strip of fiberglass, which increases by 38 percent the strength of beams used in roof and bridge construction.
