Evan Richert
Evan and his wife Joan have lived in Maine all their adult lives, first in the Augusta area, then in South Portland for more than 30 years, and in the Bangor area since 2006, where they moved to be close to their daughter and grandchildren. Evan is a city and regional land use planner who has worked across the state as a planning director and consultant, including eight years as Director of the State Planning Office under Gov. Angus King and consulting planner to the Town of Orono from 2006-2019. His work has scaled from downtown to large regional plans, including municipal comprehensive plans, downtown development projects, regional transportation-land use strategies, consulting with the Land Use Regulation Commission on the 400,000-acre Plum Creek plan for the Moosehead Lake Region, and helping to found the Gulf of Maine Ocean Observing System in cooperation with University of Maine and other scientists. He co-founded UpStart Maine Inc, a coalition of entrepreneur support programs in the Bangor Region and is on the Board of the Bangor Target Area Development Corp., owner of the UpStart Center for Entrepreneurship incubator.
