Susanne Lee to speak at VegFest

Mitchell Center Faculty Fellow Susanne Lee will give a talk about Maine’s efforts to reduce food waste at this year’s VegFest. The event will take place at East End Community School in Portland on October 28.

About one third of our food is wasted. It’s the same as going to the grocery store, buying three bags of groceries, and then dropping one in the parking lot. We are wasting a limited supply of water, energy and labor and everyone can help stop it.

Lee will talk about solutions to reduce our food waste which she calls ‘a symptom of a broken food system’. Simple solutions include eating leftovers, shopping with a meal plan and list, and composting.
