MacRae and Haedicke publish PFAS OpEd in BDN
Mitchell Center faculty fellows Michael Haedicke, UMaine associate professor of sociology, and Jean MacRae, UMaine, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, published a recent OpEd in the Bangor Daily News titled “Producers and regulators must finalize PFAS registry.” The OpEd covers Maine’s response to the PFAS crisis and the importance of not delaying the creation of a registry of products containing PFAS that are sold in the state.
Haedicke and MacRae argue that Mainer’s are already bearing the costs related to PFAS contamination and that people have the right to know what products they are purchasing that may contain these ‘forever chemicals’.
The column reflects Haedicke and MacRae’s views and expertise and does not speak on behalf of the University of Maine or the Mitchell Center.
