This workshop will provide an overview of social emotional learning (SEL) with an emphasis on emotional sense-making. As indicators of what we care most about and why, emotions are critical to our sense-making of the world as well as ways of communicating that understanding. Dr. Hufnagel will share key aspects of current research on SEL and myths about emotional sense-making in children with autism. During the last part of the workshop, Dr. Hufnagel will discuss strategies for educators in supporting emotional learning in children with autism.
Contact hours are awarded upon completion of the workshop. CEUs (.6) are available with a $20 processing fee.
