Session Description
In this one-hour webinar, Kellie Irving discusses strategies for supporting inclusion within the classroom. Participants can expect to learn the defining features of inclusion and what it truly means to have an inclusive classroom. Participants will also have the opportunity to reflect on their own classroom and see what areas have room for improvement in terms of accessibility. Irving also covers different types of adaptations and accommodations that can be made to improve upon inclusion in the classroom. [Earn 2 Contact Hours upon completion.]
Speaker Bio
Kellie J. Irving is an adjunct faculty member in special education, part of the School of Learning and Teaching at the University of Maine College of Education and Human Development. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience working in the field of early childhood education. She has worked as a preschool teacher, an itinerant special education teacher, a registered Maine Roads to Quality trainer, and as an early intervention home visitor. Kellie has worked for Child Development Services since 2008 holding state of Maine certifications as both a Teacher of Children with Disabilities ages 0-5, and a Special Education Consultant. Kellie’s academic accomplishments include a master’s degree in early childhood education from the University of New Hampshire, an infant specialist certificate from the Erikson Institute in Chicago, a certificate of advanced study in early intervention and educational leadership and a graduate certificate in autism spectrum disorders from the University of Maine.
