A leading participant in the lively old-time French Canadian dancing will be Cindy Larock from Lewiston. Larock has served for several years as a master artist for the Maine Arts Commission’s Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program, through which she teaches a variety of Quebecois folk dance styles, including contras and squares as well as step dancing. Accompanying her will be vintage fiddler Lionel Doucette of Brewer, who grew up in the St. John Valley where he was steeped in the Acadian French culture. Joining him will be guitarist Don Cunningham of Lewiston, with other “surprise” musicians likely to put in an appearance, in the true spirit of an old-time Franco house party.
A light lunch will be served following the house party.
