National History Day in Maine is a co-curricular academic program that fosters in-depth research and critical analysis skills for students in grades 6-12.
Since 2014, National History Day (NHD) in Maine has been affiliated with UMaine. The program is a co-curricular academic program that fosters in-depth research and critical analysis skills for students in grades 6-12. Students select a topic relating to a national theme. Using primary and secondary resources, students research a topic and present conclusions in one of the following ways: Research Paper, Exhibit, Documentary, Performance, or Website.
Each year NHD in ME encourages hundreds of students to take a special interest in the importance of history by exhibiting their work while competing in regional, state, and national contests judged by experts in the field of humanities.
