Back by popular demand! The Research Impact Challenge was a professional development opportunity to help researchers better understand and manage their online scholarly presence, as well as consider ways to describe the impact and reach of their work.
Each day for five days during Maine IMPACT Week, participants received an email with a suggested task designed to build and curate one’s scholarly profile, measure the impact of one’s research, and/or promote one’s work to reach new audiences.
Activities varied, but typically took anywhere from 5-30 minutes, and could be completed on any internet-enabled device.
- These daily “challenges” were designed for researchers to accomplish over the course of one week. However, each activity stands alone and could be completed separately from the others and at a time that was convenient for participants.
- Throughout the week, participants also received tips for staying on top of publishing trends that may benefit their scholarship. All were welcome to participate – the activities may have been especially resonant for graduate students and early career scholars.

“This was great! Extremely helpful for a graduating student in the research field. Thank you!”
“Thank you for putting this together! A colleague mentioned how useful [this program] was for them in a previous semester. Having a structure to remind myself to update my ORCID info and google scholar was helpful.”
