All students enrolled in Department of Art courses are given the opportunity to submit their research/creative work to the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. This exhibition is held in the Lord Hall Gallery, and on average, more than 300 works of art are submitted by the students. Two faculty members and an outside visual art professional then jury these works. The outside jurors have included museum curators and practicing artists, including alums of the Department of Art programs. Depending on the year, 70-90 works of art are selected for the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition in a range of media. Paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, collages and design, as well as sculpture, installation and ceramic work make up the exhibition. Accompanying the opening reception for the exhibition is the annual award ceremony in which 40 awards and recognitions are given in studio art, art history and art education. These awards acknowledge students who have excelled in their academic and artistic engagements.
This year, the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition will be held in the Lord Hall Gallery from April 5 through May 3, with an artists’ reception on April 19 from 5:30-7:00.
