2024–25 Estimated Financial Aid Letter Request

We recognize that financial considerations constitute a large part of your university selection process. To provide you with as much support as we can, the University of Maine and University of Maine at Machias can provide students admitted for the fall 2024 term with an estimated award letter. This letter includes 2024–25 estimated federal, state, and institutional need based aid in addition to the merit scholarships that have already offered.

What the Estimated Financial Aid Letter is:

  • The Estimated Financial Aid Letter will use information reported by the student and family to estimate potential Federal, State, and Institutional grant and scholarship eligibility for the 2024–25 academic year. In addition, potential eligibility for Federal-Work Study and Federal Direct Loans will be provided on the Estimated Financial Aid Letter.
  • The Estimated Financial Aid Letter will provide families, based on information reported by the student and family as well as admissions information, with estimated direct and indirect cost information.
  • The Estimated Financial Aid Letter is provisional, and based on current information which may change at a later date. Differences between an Estimated Financial Aid Letter and an Official Financial Aid Offer may occur if there are additional changes from the Department of Education, if information provided on the 2024-2025 FAFSA is changed or incorrect, or if the information provided on the Estimated Financial Aid Request is incorrect.
  • The Estimated Financial Aid Letter is a resource to assist families with estimating expenses at UMaine and UMaine Machias.

What the Estimated Financial Aid Letter is not:

  • The Estimated Financial Aid Letter is NOT an official offer of Federal, State, or Institutional financial aid. It is an estimation of what a student’s potential aid eligibility might be, based on information provided by the student.
  • The Estimated Financial Aid Letter is NOT a guarantee of financial aid at UMaine and/or UMM. Official Financial Aid Offers are dependent on information we receive from the Department of Education, directly from the student’s 2024-2025 FAFSA. If there are additional changes from the Department of Education, if information provided on the 2024-2025 FAFSA is changed or incorrect, or if the information provided on the Estimated Financial Aid Request is incorrect, the Estimated Financial Aid Letter may not accurately reflect what a student’s Official Financial Aid Offer is.
  • The Estimated Financial Aid Letter is NOT a guarantee of costs at UMaine and UMaine Machias. Cost of attendance information on the Estimated Financial Aid Letter is estimated and may change at any time if the data upon which the costs, calculations, analytic tools used, or other variables change. Students and families can expect to receive information about final 2024-2025 Cost of Attendance Information at UMaine and UMaine Machias in early June 2024.

You must meet the following two conditions to request an
Estimated Financial Aid Letter:

Students accepted to the University of Maine and/or the University of Maine at Machias, as either an incoming First-year or incoming Transfer student, for the fall 2024 semester.

AND
