Update: To enable members of the UMaine community to address any storm-related issues they have at their homes, and to facilitate post-storm assessment and recovery on campus, classes are canceled Tuesday, Oct. 31. Only storm day personnel are expected to report. Classes are scheduled to resume at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The Field House is open for emergency Red Cross sheltering for area community residents.

Power is restored to east side of campus and expected to remain stable. West side remains without power.

Fogler Library and Student Rec Center are closed.

Some residential students have been evacuated elsewhere on campus until power is restored.

The evacuation is for the safety and security of our residential students. Without power, fire suppression systems are off in the residence halls and there is no illumination for emergency exits in the dark. Students were evacuated before sundown.

Students in Balentine, Penobscot, Colvin and Estabrooke were evacuated at 3:30 p.m. to the Rec Center; students in York, Kennebec, Aroostook and Stodder were evacuated at 4 p.m. to the Memorial Union; students in Oak, Hart and Hancock were evacuated at 4:30 p.m. to the Rec Center
Students were asked to bring their medications, pillow, jacket or blanket, toiletries/towel, phone/charger, MaineCard, shoes (not slippers) and authorized service animals/emotional support.
Once evacuated, the residence halls are closed until further notice. Evacuated students will be advised when they can return to residence halls.

Updates as they become available.
