Kai Laspina – Student on the Job
Alumna Class of 2019 Kai Laspina is a senior in EES with a concentration in marine ecosystems. “Being originally from Long Island, New York, I have always loved the ocean and have found it incredibly interesting. I am lucky enough to be completing my capstone project with Dr. Kristina Cammen in the School of Marine Sciences, where we are studying the relationship of mass stranding events and genetic relationships in the Atlantic White Sided dolphin, Lagenorynchus acutus. Through the EES (program), I’ve had amazing opportunities, such as going abroad last summer to live and study in the rain forests of tropical North Queensland, Australia. Following graduation, I am hoping to complete a Masters of Science in marine policy/marine conservation at a university either in the UK or Canada.”
