Eddie Nachamie, Students on the Job
What did you do?
“I worked with UMaine’s Cooperative Forestry Unit and travelled around northern Maine collecting forest inventory data. I camped Monday through Thursday and conducted data collection on forest overstory, regeneration, and understory.”
What is the most valuable skill you learned?
“The most valuable skill that I learned was tree and herbaceous plant identification. My ability to identify different species got so much stronger throughout the summer.”
What advice would you give to others looking for similar experiences?
“I would tell folks who are interested in opportunities like this to go reach out to employers as soon as you can and begin having conversations with them to build relationships. Reaching out is always a great first step!”
