Diego Kulldorff, Student on the Job
EES Senior Diego Kulldorff, spent his summer working as an intern for Northeast Paving. He has a concentration in Sustainability, Environmental Policy, and Natural Resource Management. Not only did he gain some invaluable work experience, he earned UMaine credits through EES 396, our field experience course. He shared some highlights with us:
“Over the summer I have been an Environmental Intern at Northeast Paving. Before starting this internship, I had little knowledge of the scope of the paving and materials industry and how environmental factors apply. I have been able to learn about the role of environmental managers and the work that goes into keeping work sites, asphalt plants and quarries in compliance with state and federal environmental standards. I was also fortunate enough to be able to work with other parts of the company such as the safety department, quality control, quarry work and on paving crews.”
