Benjamin Blais Wins First Annual Boyle Associates Scholarship

Ben Blais_PhotoBenjamin Blais, a fourth year student in Ecology and Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Sustainability, Environmental Policy, and Natural Resource Management and a minor in Renewable Energy Science and Technology , was selected as the first annual recipient of the Boyle Associates Scholarship. The Boyle Associates Scholarship was founded in 2013 to recognize meritorious undergraduates in Ecology and Environmental Sciences, Wildlife Ecology, or related fields.

Originally from New Gloucester, Maine, Benjamin graduated from Hebron Academy in 2010. After hiking the Appalachian Trail, he enrolled at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2011. He transferred to the University of Maine his sophomore year. He is currently employed through the School of Forest Resources and will be completing his Bachelor of Science degree December, 2014. Benjamin aspires to help Maine generate more clean energy from its valuable forest resource while remaining sustainable for generations to come.
