marine geology laboratory

The Marine Geology Laboratory is equipped with a wide range of facilities designed for sediment sample processing and analysis, microscopy, and clean-laboratory geochemistry. The MGL consists of three primary workspaces (rooms 106A, B, and C) dedicated to the following activities: A) sediment core processing and sampling, grain size analysis, basic loss-on-ignition analysis, and coring gear/field gear workshop, B) clean laboratory for geochemistry supplied with HEPA-filtered air, hood, flow bench (measured class 100 or ISO5), microcentrifuge, and ultrapure water system (Barnstead Smart2Pure), and C) microscope and computer laboratory tailored for micropaleontology, including a microbalance (Sartorius Secura26).
