The Tunaep Multigas Detector

What is the Tunaep Multigas Detector?

The Tunaep Multigas Detector is a device that has the capability of detecting multiple biohazardous gases. The device is portable, durable, and low in cost to produce making it ideal for local fire departments. It alerts the end user of surrounding dangers via sound, vibration, and multi-colored LEDs.

Features

  • Detects multiple gases (oxygen, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide).
  • Three mechanisms of alerting the user:
    • Haptic via three vibrating disks.
    • Visual via front and side multi-color LEDs, and a front LCD screen.
    • Sound via speaker system.
  • Bluetooth compatible.
  • Peanut shape allows for secure grip.
  • Rubber edges act as concussion boot to absorb shock.
  • LCD screen for easy viewing of quantitative data.

Details

  • Meets National Fire Protection Association Standards.
  • Volume approximately 720 cm3 , similar to an office tape dispenser.
  • The oxygen sensor has a detection range from 0% volume to 30 % volume.
  • The hydrogen sulfide sensor has a concentration range from 0 to 100 ppm.
  • The ammonia sensor has a concentration  range from 1 to 500 ppm.

Future Work

In the future the team would like to:

  • Finalize the assembly of all components to complete the build of the device.
  • Accurately detect relevant concentrations of oxygen, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia gas.
  • Have a guaranteed battery life of 24 hours.
  • Add the feature of a retractable strap.
  • Incorporate Bluetooth capability.
