Master Sergeant Nate Williams

MSG James N. Williams was born and raised in Marion, Illinois. He enlisted in the Army in 2004 as a 13B (Cannon Crewmember) and attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, OK.

His assignments include the 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment (FAR), 1st Armored Division (AD), Baumholder, Germany; 1st Battalion, 6th FAR, 1st Infantry Division (ID), Fort Hood, TX; 3rd Battalion, 82nd FAR, 1st Cavalry Division (CD), Fort Hood, TX; 3rd Battalion, 16th FAR, 1st CD, Fort Hood, TX; 2nd Battalion, 12th FAR, 4th ID, Fort Carson, CO; 2nd Battalion, 77th FAR, 4th ID FCCO; HHB, DIVARTY, 4th ID, FCCO. MSG Williams currently serves as the Senior Military Science Instructor, Army ROTC, for the University of Maine, Orono.

MSG Williams has served as a Cannoneer Number One man, Gunner, Chief of Section, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant and Battalion Master Gunner. He has deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom 04, 05-06, Operation New Dawn 2011 and Operation Enduring Freedom 08-09, and 2019. With one rotation to the Republic of Korea 2015-16.

His military and civilian education includes the Basic Leaders Course, the Advanced Leaders Course, the Senior Leaders Course and the Master Leaders Course. In addition, he has attended the Master Resiliency Trainer Course, the Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, the Antiterrorism Officer Basic Course, and the Rear Detachment 1SG/CDR Course. He has attained his Associates of Applied Science from Central Texas College and is currently pursuing his Bachelors of Arts in History.

1SG Williams’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal (9OLC), Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal (3CS), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (2CS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4th award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (5th award), NATO Service Medal, the Combat Action Badge, Drivers Badge (Wheeled) and is a recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.

MSG Williams currently resides in Levant with his wife Jenilee and their two daughters, Annabelle-Leigh (9) and Addilynn (8).
