Geologist Profiled in Bangor Daily News

The Bangor Daily News published a profile of University of Maine professor emeritus Hal Borns, a long-time geologist at the university who retired in 2004 after 50 years on the UMaine faculty. Borns, the first director of what is now the Climate Change Institute, continues to work and maintain an office on campus at age 84. Borns said one of his most memorable accomplishments was leading the Maine Ice Age Trail Map project, which colorfully details the glacial landscapes and geological attributes of the terrain along and inland from the Maine coast.
