Article Weighs Value of UMaine Sports

Several University of Maine administrators and others were interviewed for a Bangor Daily News article discussing the cost and value of UMaine’s athletics programs and sports teams. UMaine President Paul Ferguson, Athletic Director Steve Abbott, Vice President for Administration and Finance Janet Waldron and UMaine history professor Howard Segal were interviewed for the story. Ferguson said the teams help students develop leadership and team-building skills, and athletic events often serve as a positive first exposure for many people to the university.
