The Concord Monitor newspaper in New Hampshire published an extensive article about the loss being felt at the University of Maine over the weekend of a student from Barnstead, N.H. who worked at UMaine’s New Balance Student Recreation Center. Friends and co-workers of 22-year-old Shirley Ladd, who succumbed to injuries suffered in a fall from a mountain hiking trail at Acadia National Park Saturday, described their sense of loss and said Ladd was vibrant and inspiring.
