Bill Halteman, professor of mathematics and statistics at the University of Maine, was interviewed by the Lewiston Sun Journal for a story on the Mega Millions lottery, which is prompting unprecedented ticket sales in 43 states and territories because of the $640 million jackpot. Halteman calculated the odds of winning at 1 in 175.7 million.
