BDN Features Literacy Volunteer Phil Locke, Former Math Professor
The Weekly section of the Bangor Daily News carried a feature story about retired UMaine math professor Phil Locke, who has received a WLBZ “2 Those Who Care” John W. Coombs award for his community service work. Locke spends his time now as an English language teacher for Literacy Volunteers of Bangor, helping with Orono Bog Boardwalk maintenance, collecting wildlife data for state fish and wildlife officials, and playing violin on Marsh Island, the article says. The award ceremony will be televised Nov. 5 on Channel 2 (WLBZ).
