An article by Dr. Jeffrey D. Wilhelm, a professor at Boise State University, who will lead the 2017 SMART Institute for teachers. Dr. Wilhelm’s specialties include teaching, teacher research, and creating collaborative inquiry curricula with students.

PROGRAM SURVEYS!
Institute participants will receive THREE SURVEYS throughout the program. Surveys will come from program evaluator Casey Cobb in June, November and May 2018. Casey will email teachers; students will be emailed AND texted. Surveys will take 10-15 minutes each.
TRAVEL PROCEDURES
- If any group members need to pay baggage fees, please have one teacher pay all fees and keep the receipt for reimbursement.
- Project staff members will pick up all participants arriving at the Bangor International Airport.

PACKING LIST
Clothing
- Casual clothing: warm-wear, cool-wear, and rainwear (i.e. t-shirt, sweatshirt/light jacket, rain jacket, shorts, jeans, etc.)
- Sneakers
- Water shoes or other closed-toed shoes for water-related activities, e.g., an a old pair of sneakers
- Socks and undergarments
- Pajamas
- Swimsuit and workout clothes (optional; for Recreation Center)
Toiletries
- Prescription medication (marked in original container)
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Soap, shampoo, conditioner, comb/brush
- Deodorant
- Feminine hygiene products
- Glasses/contacts and cleaning solution
Miscellaneous
- For those age 18 or older: a photo ID issued at the state or federal level (such as a driver’s license or US Passport), for entrance onto domestic flight
- Reusable water bottle or canteen
- Sunblock, bug repellent
- Hat, sunglasses
- Entertainment: books, frisbee, etc. There will be structured down time with evening activities, yet come prepared if you wish to read in your room etc.
- Spending money (optional; for vending machines and souvenirs)
NOTE: Towels and bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) are provided.
