Douglas W. Nangle, PhD
Dr. Nangle received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a clinical child emphasis from West Virginia University in 1993. He is currently Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Maine, where he served as the Director of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology for 14 years. He is a licensed psychologist in the State of Maine, training clinic supervisor, and has consulted with the State Forensic Service, Maine Department of Corrections, and Maine Department of Health and Human Services. A dedicated teacher and mentor, Dr. Nangle is the recipient of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Outstanding Faculty Award and the Presidential Outstanding Teaching Award, the university’s highest teaching distinction.
He has published extensively in the areas of social skills assessment and treatment, child and adolescent peer relations, and evidence-based practices. His five books include Social Skills across the Lifespan: Theory, Assessment, and Intervention, Treating Internalizing Disorders in Children and Adolescents: Core Techniques and Strategies, and Practitioner’s Guide to Empirically Based Measures of Social Skills. He has served in a variety of editorial roles, including Senior Editor of Education and Treatment of Children, editor of several journal special issues and sections, consulting editor for the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and ad hoc reviewer for numerous journals.
