Administrative Specialist CL1 for the Frontier Institute for Research in Sensor Technologies

The Administrative Specialist performs difficult and complex administrative work for FIRST; tasks are normally accomplished within well-defined procedures with occasional non-routine administrative work required. Part-time position, 20 hours per week, five days per week. Daily work hours are Monday – Friday, 10:00 to 2:00, with the possibility of flexible hours. This position pays $16.35/hour, or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee within the ACSUM collective bargaining unit.

Conflict of Interest Officer I or II for the Office of Research Compliance

The Conflict of Interest Officer (COI Officer) assists in the development, implementation and oversight of programs to ensure compliance with regulations, and laws, including federally-mandated agency program requirements, primarily for conflicts of interest. The rank of the position will be determined based on the finalist’s qualifications and experience. Typical hiring range for this position is: Conflict of Interest Officer I: $45,000 to $50,000; Conflict of Interest Officer II: $50,000 to $60,000.

Engineer III-IV, Business Development/Commercialization Manager for Floating Offshore Wind Technologies for the Advanced Structures and Composites Center

The purpose of this position is to manage, execute, and advance business opportunities for the University of Maine’s developed floating offshore wind related technologies and technical services. This position requires excellent communication, technical competence, and business skills to effectively advance the use of UMaine offshore wind technology to end users. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is commensurate with Career Level: Engineer III – Salary Band 7 up to $112,816; Engineer IV – Salary Band 8 up to $129,738.

Engineers IV – VII – Technical Leads, Project Managers and Program Managers – Up to 20 Positions for the Advanced Structures and Composites Center

The purpose of these positions is to manage and lead research for Advanced Structures and Composites Center R&D programs; manage operations for growth, budget and resource planning; create, develop and plan new programs; direct, manage and oversee all engineering for multiple research programs and identify partners in the composites industry and to develop proposals for federal, state, and industry-funded R&D and demonstration programs in cooperation with industry partners. Positions may be located in Portland, Maine or Orono, Maine. Typical hiring range for these soft-money funded positions is commensurate with Career Level: Engineer IV up to $117,944; Engineer V up to $135,635; Engineer VI and VII up to $155,980.

Grant & Contract Administrator I or II – Pre-Award for the Office of Research Administration

The purpose of this position is to provide faculty and staff a range of research administrative services including the preparation and submission of proposals. The rank of the position will be determined based on the finalist’s qualifications and experience. Typical hiring range for this position is: Grant & Contract Administrator I: $47,000 to $52,000; Grant & Contract Administrator II: $50,000 to $55,947.

This position supports the Office of Research Administration by reviewing, negotiating and executing awards and amendments from external sponsors on behalf of the University of Maine. In addition, this position provides guidance and advice to faculty, staff and administrators on federal, state and university guidelines, procedures and policies related to research administration processes. The rank of the position will be determined based on the finalist’s qualifications and experience. Grant and Contract Administrator I or II – Post Award (Temporary) for the Office of Research Administration

This temporary position supports the Office of Research Administration by reviewing, negotiating and executing awards and amendments from external sponsors on behalf of the University of Maine. In addition, this position provides guidance and advice to faculty, staff and administrators on federal, state and university guidelines, procedures and policies related to research administration processes. This is a temporary position anticipated to last six months.

Grants Manager and Fiscal Officer for the Aquaculture Research Institute

This position involves oversight and fiscal management of the Aquaculture Research Institute including grant management, general operating budgets, payroll distributions, expense tracking, and other administrative duties. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $48,000 to $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Postdoctoral Research Associates – Multiple Disciplines – Up to 20 Positions for the Advanced Structures and Composites Center

The purpose of these positions is to support, plan, and conduct assigned and original research encompassing the R&D programs at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center, while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, as well as graduate and undergraduate students at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center, and the UMaine academic departments. Postdoctoral Research Associate appointments at the University of Maine are for a limited duration and must include an educational component. University policy requires that a University of Maine faculty member be identified as a mentor and that specific guidelines be met. The purpose of the postdoctoral appointment is to further prepare an individual who was recently awarded a doctorate to undertake the responsibilities of a career in research. Positions may be located in Portland, Maine or Orono, Maine. Typical hiring range for these soft-money funded positions is up to $85,000 and commensurate with qualifications.

Program Coordinator – Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) for the Center on Aging

The Program Coordinator is a member of a two-person RSVP professional staff which facilitates volunteerism for those who are 55 or over in Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Washington Counties. This is accomplished by building collaborations with non-profit and governmental organizations, the recruitment, enrollment and training of volunteers, as well as supporting currently enrolled volunteers. Duties include assisting the director with Corporation for National & Community Service compliance requirements, data analysis, designing and administering program evaluation, and on-going site visits to established and prospective RSVP sites. Typical hiring salary for this part-time, 20 hours/week, soft-money funded position is $18,540 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Research Administration Policy Officer for the Office of Research Administration

This position supports the research community in the development and dissemination of policy, procedures and guidance that comply with federal, state and sponsor regulations related to research administration. This position requires working collaboratively and strategically with other campus administrative offices and stakeholders to develop, implement, and enhance research administration compliance efforts. Typical hiring range for this position is $68,000 to $76,774 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Research Associate II for the Center for Community Inclusion and Disability Studies

The primary purpose of this position is to research, develop, plan, and provide consultation/technical assistance, professional development, and community education related to community-based services and supports for children, youth, and/or adults with disabilities. The employee is also required to participate in materials and grant development as well as project dissemination and evaluation activities. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $45,151 to $58,053 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Research Compliance Officer I or II for the Office of Research Compliance

The Research Compliance Officer assists in the development and implementation of research compliance programs to ensure compliance with required protocols, regulations, and laws — primarily with human or animal research — including federally-mandated agency program requirements. The rank of the position will be determined based on the finalist’s qualifications and experience. Typical hiring range for this position is: Research Compliance Officer I: $44,000 to $52,000; Research Compliance Officer II: $52,000 – $57,000.

Research Facilities Operations Specialist for Coordinated Operating Research Entities

To support the operational aspects of research facilities that are associated with research and development activities in CORE and FIRST, including the Microfabrication Cleanroom Facility and associated synthesis, fabrication, and characterization facilities. The responsibilities will include development and refinement of fabrication processes and characterization techniques within the facilities, as well as operation and maintenance of a broad range of equipment in these areas. This position also provides expertise and training to users of the CORE Microfabrication Cleanroom and associated FIRST facilities. Typical hiring range for this position is $51,183 to $70,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Safety and Training Manager for the Advanced Structures and Composites Center

The purpose of this position is to oversee all safety at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center. This includes supervisory responsibility for staff and students in the laboratory. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $44,507 to $74,177 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Sea Grant Professional I/Marine Extension Associate – Aquaculture HUB Coordinator for Sea Grant

The Sea Grant Professional I will work with members of the MET, the Hub Steering committee, and collaborators. The Professional will also conduct related advisory activities in the interest of sustainable use and development of the region’s marine and coastal resources, with particular emphasis on aquaculture. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $50,000 to $55,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Senior Fiscal & Administrative Coordinator – 2 Positions for the Office of the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School

To facilitate and enhance research related financial and administration activities at the University of Maine. These positions are within the Technical and Administrative Services Central (TASC) under the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School. STEM Education Research Associate for the the RiSE Center

The purpose of this position is to support data collection and analysis, report writing, and dissemination of findings for project and program evaluations under the direction of the RiSE Center’s Research and Evaluation Coordinator. The STEM Education Research Associate will use qualitative and quantitative methods to support both formative and summative evaluation of projects and programs. The STEM Education Research Associate will also communicate results and findings to project leaders and stakeholders in order to support, inform, and strengthen integration of STEM education research into practice. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $50,000 to $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
