Abedi promoted to Associate Vice President for Research

Dr. Ali Abedi has been promoted from Assistant to Associate Vice President for Research in recognition of his accomplishments in the advancement of research at the University of Maine, and its impact on Maine and beyond.

His accomplishments include the continued growth of the Center for Undergraduate Research, development of the UMaine AI webinar series, as well as the oversight and revamping of the Innovative Research and Media Commercialization Center (IMRC) operations and processes.

Under Abedi’s leadership, the EPIC program completed Phase 1 of the approval process, and the Research Information Management team completed PARS improvements, along with the initiation of a faculty/staff profile system.

“It is my great honor to be recognized. I look forward to contributing to the new initiatives at the Research office with help from amazing staff members who provide much needed support to faculty and students,” says Abedi.
