UMaine Clinical Psychology to collaborate on WellNurse research
A $1.5 million award launches WellNurse, a research collaboration between the Clinical Psychology Program, the School of Food and Agriculture, and the New Balance Rec Center.
Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, Dr. Rebecca Schwartz-Mette, is a co-investigator and will lead the psychological intervention aspect of the project, which involves implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for reducing burnout and enhancing resilience among UMaine’s nursing students, staff, and faculty.
MBSR is an evidence-based prevention program shown to have significant physical and psychological benefits for attendees and involves training the mind to focus, settle, and relax in times of intense stress.
